Take me out to the ballgame!

My husband and I didn't have any plans for the 4th of July. To be honest, we just aren't big planners. We just go with the flow and see what comes up. Well, on July 3rd, it occurred to me that we should go see a baseball game for the 4th of July. Let's be honest, what could be more American than that??

As you may or may not know, I am a Red Sox fan. I was born and raised in New Hampshire, which means that I root for Boston. I root for the Patriots, the Celtics, the Bruins, and of course the Red Sox, and had I not been a fan before I got married, I would certainly be one now. I'm pretty sure that my husband's family would kick you out of the family if you weren't a Sox fan. That's just how it is. Unfortunately, the Sox play in Boston, and we live in California. They do play the Angels during the season, but Angels tickets are expensive. So, if we want to see a baseball game, we generally go see the Padres. So, on a whim, we bought some $10 bleacher seat tickets, and that's how we spent our 4th.

According to the weather forecast, the 4th was supposed to be overcast and a bit chilly. To be honest, that kind of weather is perfect for me. With my health issues, bright and sunny days, or really hot days mean that I don't get to spend very much time outside. So, it looked like the stars were aligning for that day. So, we took our friend Michelle with us, and headed down to San Diego. We parked down by the airport, and took the trolley into downtown. The parking is often cheaper there, and the traffic isn't nearly as bad as it is downtown. Our seats were actually pretty good. I was expecting them to be terrible, but we definitely got more than we paid for.
All in all, with the exception of my sunburn, we had a great day. The Padres won, the game was good, and we had a lot of fun!
